History of the Club: Established in 1936 at Hazaribagh, Dhaka as the Dhaka branch of Kolkata Mohammedan. After the partition of the country in 1947, the famous footballer Mohammad Shahjahan returned to Dhaka from Kolkata and took the reins of Mohammedan. Through his efforts, Mohammedan became well organized and in 1956 many of the then best Wanderers star footballers and club officials joined the club. The following year, Mohammedan became the first league champions. From then to 2002, Mohammedan won the league title 19 times. However, Mohammedan never got the crown of excellence after entering the professional era of football in the country.
